Ingredients

  • 1 empty plastic soda bottle clear 16oz or 20oz
  • 1 glow stick LED tea light, or fairy light snippet
  • Black or brown construction paper or felt for wings & head
  • 2 googly eyes
  • 1 pipe cleaner for antennae
  • Tape hot glue, or craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Optional: glitter stickers, or paint for decoration

Method

  1. Clean & Prep the Bottle: Rinse the bottle and dry it well. If you want a stubby firefly, cut off the neck.
  2. Make the Wings & Head: Cut wing shapes and glue them to the sides. Cut a small circle or oval for the head and attach googly eyes.
  3. Add the Glow: Crack and activate the glow stick and drop it inside or use a battery tea light.
  4. Final Touches: Decorate with glitter, paint, or stickers and allow to dry.
  5. Display & Enjoy: Use as soft night lights or decorate outdoor spaces.

Notes

Use clear bottles for the best glow. Trim the neck for a cute shape, and secure decorations properly. This is a gentle way to gather outdoors at night.
